The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) successfully conducted the 3-day Navigating Phase 1: A Workshop and Training for the Application of the College of Medicine Program on February 18-21, 2023, at Spacebar, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur. The workshop brought together key officials, including Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon, the University President, Dr. Ma. Lady Sol A. Suazo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abundio C. Miralles, the Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Rolly G. Salvaleon, the Vice President for Research and Extension, alongside other committee members.

Dr. Cecilia Cruz, a renowned expert, served as the resource speaker during the three-day workshop and training.

Throughout the workshop, Dr. Cruz provided invaluable insights, focusing on the goal of establishing a medical school in Surigao del Sur that caters to Mindanaons, with a special emphasis on the Indigenous Community. The objective is to produce five-star doctors for the country, dedicated to serving the nation in the field of health. Discussions also revolved around crucial aspects such as curriculum development, infrastructure requirements, and the overall strategy for the successful establishment of the College.

NEMSU remains committed to enhancing its academic offerings and ensuring quality education. The workshop served as a vital platform for collaboration and strategic planning, marking a significant step forward in the university's pursuit of excellence in medical education.
