North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) concluded a successful Direction-Setting Session on February 25, 2025, at its Cantilan Campus, spearheaded by University President Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon. This event was attended by selected faculty and staff who were set to receive their office orders for their designated and re-designated positions.

Dr. Mick Mars P. Silvano formally opened the session by presenting the rationale of the event, emphasizing the importance of direction setting in ensuring alignment with the institution’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, and INNOVATE Agenda. He elaborated on the key objectives of the session, highlighting its role in fostering collaboration and operational efficiency. He also underscored Leadership and Governance in the University as outlined in CMO 7, s. 2022, focusing on Academic Leadership, Institutional Leadership, and Leadership in Resource Mobilization.

During the session, Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon delivered a compelling message centered on NEMSU’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, and the 8-Point Strategic Directional Agenda. He emphasized the university’s role as a Research University, requiring faculty to uphold the Four-Fold Functions of instruction, research, extension, and production. He encouraged all teaching staff to integrate research into their teaching methodologies and to embrace an aggressive approach to innovation.

The session also featured a presentation by Engr. Kenny Montenegro, Planning Officer III, who outlined the Office Performance Commitment Review (OPCR) Targets and SUC Levelling Targets for Instruction, Research, Extension, Production, and Governance. His presentation provided crucial insights into the university’s roadmap for achieving excellence in these areas.

Dr. Juancho A. Intano, Campus Director of NEMSU Cantilan, expressed his unwavering commitment to the university’s vision. He extended his profound gratitude to Dr. Loayon for his continued support and technical assistance, as well as to all faculty and staff who participated in the session.

The Direction-Setting Session served as a significant platform for reinforcing NEMSU’s institutional goals, ensuring that leadership and faculty remain aligned with the university’s strategic vision. The event concluded with the distribution of designation orders to the attendees, solidifying their new roles and responsibilities within the university.
