SDSSU Extends Assistance During the Devastation of Auring
by: Executive Affairs | February 24, 2021

Tandag City and its neighboring municipalities met a devastating plight when Tropical Depression Auring veered in these areas. Bringing with it strong winds and heavy rains, many areas were submerged into turbid water and quickly left many families displaced in the morning of February 21, 2022. Dr. Baceledes R. Estal responded immediately to the call of the LGUs for a prompt assistance as he instructed all the Campus Directors to identify designated areas in the Campuses for the evacuated families as their refuge amidst the torments brought by Auring. A salient part of his marching order to the Vice Presidents, Campus Directors, Extension Director, DRR Focal Person, together with all the Key Officials is to extend food aids and other forms of support to the evacuees as part of the emergency response of SDSSU.
Through the concerted efforts of the Key Officials, masks, food assistance, and an overnight shelter were extended to the affected families meeting their most urgent needs. Further, distribution of food packs was also extended to the identified Barangays after Auring left the grounds of Surigao del Sur. Indeed, SDSSU has stood up to its core values…. SDSSU CARES.
