Clad in symbolic grad caps and gowns, the graduating students of North Eastern Mindanao State University-Lianga Campus marched triumphantly as they were acknowledged for the completion of their academic journey during the 14th Commencement Exercises today, July 4, at Prospero B. Pichay Sr., Sports and Cultural Center.

Comm. Jo Mark M. Libre, CHED Commissioner and Chair of the NEMSU Board of Regents, sent his virtual inspirational message, which highlighted the importance of extending gratitude to the people behind the achievements of the graduating students, especially to their parents.

โ€œRemember to thank your family, extend the kind of gratitude and love for the support and even the sacrifices that they made,โ€ Libre accentuated. Moreover, Hon. Francis Escudero, Senator of the Philippines and Chairman of the Committee on Higher Technical Vocational Education, also delivered his message to the graduates and pointed out that students are not just hope for the nation but also drivers of societal change.

โ€œAng kabataan ay hindi lamang pag-asa ng bayan, ang kabataan ay dapat maaasahan na ng bayan,โ€ he stressed.

Further, Dr. Cynthia Pantaleon Sajot, Campus Director, presented the candidates for graduation of 59 students from the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSFi) , 34 students from Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (BSMB), 66 students from Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES), 82 from Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), 36 from Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd), 80 students from Bachelor of Business Administration major in Financial Management (BSBA-FM) while 58 students from Business Economics (BSBA-BE), 74 students from Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, and 48 students from Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), followed by conferring of degrees by Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon, the University President.

Meanwhile, Engr. Noel Ajoc, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology-Caraga Region, took the spot for the commencement address. In his talk, he stressed how dreams and success may be realized through dedication and perseverance.

โ€œDreams do come true with perseverance, commitment, and relentless hard work. Embrace the unwavering determination to succeed. Dapat "no retreat, no surrender,โ€ Ajoc said. โ€œHave the determination to become a board topnotcher, and surely you will become one. Reading skill is very important. So, practice reading,โ€ he added, emphasizing the goal of aiming higher and having an unending thirst for learning. Finally, the commencement exercise concluded with the acknowledgement of distinguished guests and university key officials, the singing of the university hymn, the recession of colors, and graduates tossing off their grad caps, denoting that a significant milestone had been accomplished.
