1st National Blue Carbon Symposium (NCBS-1) at Subic Freeport Zone, Zambales

SDSSU responded the call and accepted the challenged to participate in achieving nature-based solutions in mitigating climate change issues last September 19-22, 2018 at Philippine Red Cross Logistics and Training Center, Subic Freeport Zone, Zambales.
DOST PCIEERD, UPD, Iam BLUECECAM, BLUECARES, spearheaded the activity to bring together experts and practitioners from around the Philippines to better understand the Blue Carbon ecosystem to mitigate climate and human impacts to the coastal ecosystem.
Nine (9) participants coming from different campuses of SDSSU actively joins the scientific discussions, two (2) from SDSSU-Lianga were poster presenters.
The Symposium highlighted the latest information on how the coastal domain in the country is changing and how to respond to it and promote collaborations to various government and non-government sectors to bridge the gap in knowledge, policy and practice of the blue carbon ecosystem.
The half-day trip to Triboa Mangrove Park on September 19,2018 sponsored by Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) was a team activity, were each team is on a rotation basis for mangrove DBH measurement, drone survey, spectroscopy, laser scanning and core sampling.
