Research and Development -The Innovation Technology Support Office (ITSO)

Innovation Technology Support Office (ITSO) initiated the conduct of a 5-day Intellectual Property Workshop last September 20-24, 2019 at the second floor HRM Bldg. Function Hall. 

It was participated by 30 faculty members across campuses. There were three (3) lecturers coming from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) who enlightened the participants on the different topics such as; The imperatives of the Innovation Hubs in the Industrial Revolution 4.0,   ITSO : from inception to a network of Innovation , Trademarks, Patents , Utility Models and Industrial Designs, Patent Search, Technology Transfer in the Philippines  and Technology Commercialization in the Philippines. While the workshop includes Saturdays and Sundays in order to maximize the time of the participants and the lecturers too; indeed It was very fruitful 5-day workshop yet it was a tedious especially that it was highlighted with the presentation of the patent search documents gathered from the different data base systems using the keywords and other techniques in patent search.

Another activity conducted by the ITSO was the Revision of the Intellectual Property Manual held at Bugsay Beach Resort on October 23 to 25. The output of the IP manual revision was reviewed by the Assistant Chief of the Technology Transfer Innovation Bureau of the IPOPHL. This will be presented to the 4rth quarter Academic Council meeting. 

The Third activity conducted by the office of the ITSO was the Patent Drafting and Filing held last Nov 4 to 8, 2019 at the Grand Monique Lodge in Tandag City. With the substantial inputs of the lecturers from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, the participants successfully filed for Patents Online on their Potential Technology.  There were 20 applications for Patents and 1 (one) industrial design and there are still coming applications to be reviewed and hoping for additional filing to the Bureau of Patents.
