NEMSU LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CELEBRATES 87TH NATIONAL BOOK WEEK

Every year the National Book Week Celebration has been observed all over the country with a varied program of activities.
It is a fact that the National Book Week celebration is organized by the Philippine Library Association, Inc. (formally known as the Philippine Library Association) intended to encourage reading and literacy among Filipinos and to promote Public libraries in the Philippines. It is with an utmost aim to arouse the national interest in reading good books and designed to sell the public library to the community by focusing the attention of the people on its resources and nature of the services even in this new normal condition. Also, encourage greater participation in the varied activities which include the essay writing contest, poster making contest, and other forms of challenges by the public various libraries, and educational institutions to make the celebration laudable all over the country.
In line with the historical background of the event and the present time during new normal NEMSU formerly Surigao Del Sur State University spearheaded by the Library Management System conducted similar activities on the 87th National Book Week Celebration on the theme โOutcomes. Outreach. Outstanding: Libraries Beyond Boundariesโ. A weeklong virtual celebration was formally started with the opening program on the first day Nov. 24, 2021, at exactly 02:00 in the afternoon. The said celebration has seven (7) activities which participated by the students of the different Colleges namely: Virtual Essay Writing Contest, Virtual Poster Making Contest, Virtual Calligraphy Slogan Contest, Online Library Trivia, and Social Media Contest such as Book Selfie, Book Face and Tiktok: Pass a Book Challenge virtually. All of the winners received cash prizes and certificates during the Culminating Activity on the 5th day with our resource speaker Dr. Anita C. Sornito, BLIS program coordinator of the University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, Philippines.
The Library Management has also library awardees such as Most Valuable Faculty Users, Top Most Faculty Library Users, and Top Most Digital Library Student Users both Graduate and Under Graduate Students. Highlighted in the awarding ceremony are the Faculty awardees for being the first Digital Library Advocators and Surigao Del Sur State University as the First ODILO Digital Library Subscriber in Caraga Region..
