Amidst cheers and applause, athletes from across the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)



Amidst cheers and applause, athletes from across the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Mindanao gathered to showcase their skills at the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 MASTS Games at the Provincial Sports Complex in Amas, Kidapawan City. The energy was palpable as the sports competition kicked off, promising an exciting and memorable event for all.

Dr. Nelson Cabral, president of MASTS and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, declared the official opening of the 2023 MASTS Games- Sports Competition.

The opening ceremony was also graced by the representative of Sen. Sonny Angara, Hon. Comm. Jo Mark M. Libre, Governor Lala, representatives of the 3 congressional districts of Cotabato, some mayors, SUC Presidents, coaches, officiating officials, athletes, among others.

The opening ceremony was held this afternoon at 4:00. Despite the rainy weather, the ceremony continued.

The MASTS Games - Sports Competition is conducted to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among the athletes from different regions in Mindanao. It serves as a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level, while also fostering camaraderie and goodwill among participants from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the games aim to raise awareness about the importance of sports and physical activity in leading a healthy and fulfilling life.

This Sports Competition is being conducted with a series of athletic events and competitions in various categories such as track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and others. The competitions are held at the Provincial Sports Complex in Amas, Kidapawan City, Cotabato City State Polytechnic College, Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology, along with other identified venues in the Municipality of Arakan, with athletes from different regions competing against each other. The rules and regulations of the games are strictly enforced to ensure a fair and level playing field for all athletes. The event is being organized by the MASTS (Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools, Inc.), in collaboration with local sports organizations and government bodies, to ensure a smooth and successful event.
